CatholicCall is designed to provide a brief lesson each day. It is based on the Scriptures read in the day’s Eucharistic liturgy to reflect the daily prayer of the Church. Each lesson springs forth from the readings, a biblical theme or a saintly life. Over time, the reader will gain an appreciable knowledge of the faith and biblical terminology. Catholics and all Christians are greatly enriched when they personally invest in a deeper understanding of why the Church teaches what it does.

The construct of each lesson comes out of the author’s experience. There were lessons for five years in a Catholic scripture study group led by a conservative Methodist who knew Greek and Hebrew. This followed two years as a Catholic seminarian in a religious order of the Church. In the past ten years, the author taught a Bible study and lectured to adult Catholics for five years at a Catholic parish in suburban Washington, D.C. There a much deeper appreciation of the desire of adult Catholics to learn more of the faith and scripture inspired my hope to one day provide an internet based series of lessons for the distracted Christian. I pray that we may travel this pilgrimage together for many years and reunite before the heavenly court in joyful exultation. As Saint Francis of Assisi once noted, “May the Lord spare us!”

CatholicCall is designed to be machine read for sight impaired people. Please inform any person who has access to a reading machine, if you feel they might enjoy the lessons.
